Vaughn McClure of ESPN would be surprised if the Falcons don’t try to sign veteran DEs Robert Quinn and Bruce Irvin this offseason.
McClure says Rams free agent DE Dante Fowler wants to be reunited with Dan Quinn, but he isn’t sure this is going to happen.
On Monday, the Falcons cleared around $15 million of cap space not including the $3 million they will take on from acquiring TE Hayden Hurst in the trade with the Ravens. This should help them afford a pass-rusher or two, according to McClure.
Quinn, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2011. Los Angeles traded him to the Dolphins in 2018 for fourth- and sixth-round picks.
From there, the Dolphins traded Quinn to the Cowboys last year and he played out the final year of his four-year, $66.575 million extension. He’s now an unrestricted free agent.
In 2019, Quinn appeared in 14 games for the Cowboys and recorded 34 tackles, 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47 edge rusher out of 107 qualifying players.

Irvin, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He spent four years in Seattle before signing a four-year, $37 million contract that included $19 million guaranteed with the Raiders in 2016.
The Raiders cut Irvin loose in 2018 and he later signed on with the Falcons and finished out the season in Atlanta. From there, he agreed to a one-year deal with the Panthers.
In 2019, Irvin appeared in 13 games for the Panthers and recorded 36 tackles, 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 73 edge rusher out of 107 qualifying players.
