According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Altanta Journal Constitution, Seahawks DC Dan Quinn will officially be named the Falcons next head coach on February 2nd.
At this point in time, it’s a foregone conclusion that Quinn will get the job. In fact, had Seattle lost last weekend, he would have already been hired as the Falcons new head coach.
Rules prevent Quinn from officially accepting the position until after the Seahawks season has come to an end.
Atlanta wasted no time in hiring Kyle Shanahan as their new offensive coordinator, which is as good of a sign as any that Quinn will get the head-coaching job.
Lions DC Teryl Austin was reportedly in the mix as well, but reports from the last week or so seemed to indicate that he was a fallback option for the Falcons.
We’ll have more updates regarding Quinn and the Falcons as the news is available.
