Falcons Waive Veteran G Jon Asamoah From I.R. With Injury Settlement

The Atlanta Falcons announced Monday that they’ve reached an injury settlement with veteran Gย Jon Asamoah and will waive him from their injured reserve list.

Asamoah, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract with the Chiefs before signing a five-year, $22.5 million contractย that includedย $8 million guaranteed with the Falcons back in March of last year.

He stands to make a base salary of $2.5 million this season and another $3.5 million in 2016. However, it’s unlikely that he’ll claimed off of waivers in the coming days.

Asamoah suffered aย hip injury that led to the Falcons placing him on season-ending injured reserve at the start of the season.
