According to Aaron Wison, the Falcons worked out free agent S Dexter McCoil on Friday.
Reports have said that the Falcons are signing S Afolabi Laguda (NFLTR), so it appears as though he won the roster spot out of the group of tryout players.
McCoil recently tried out for the Ravens, so it appears as though interest in him is starting to pick up.
McCoil, 27, wound up going undrafted out of Tulsa back in 2013. He signed on with the Edmonton Eskimos in 2014 and played safety for them during his two years in the CFL.
The Chargers signed him to a future/reserve contract in 2017 only to cut him loose during the season. McCoil was claimed off of waivers by the 49ers, but was waived after last year’s draft.
From there, McCoil signed on to the 49ers’ practice squad before joining the Chargers this past January.
In 2017, McCoil appeared in 10 games for the Chargers and 49ers, and recorded five tackles and no interceptions.
