Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that free agent quarterback Mike Kafka worked out for the New England Patriots today, citing a team source.
Kafka was not claimed on the waiver wire so is now an unrestricted free agent, after being cut by the Philadelphia Eagles two years after being drafted in the fourth round. The Eagles had four QBs on the roster, so it stuck out as a position where a cut might have to be missed.
Meanwhile, the Patriots now have just two QBs on their depth chart, Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett, after making the rather surprising decision to cut Brian Hoyer.
