Former NFL WR Percy Harvin Looking To Play Again, Potentially For Buccaneers?

According to Josina Anderson, former NFL WR Percy Harvin says he’s ready to return to the NFL after retiring before the 2017 season.

“I thought I was done, but that itch came back,” Harvin said. “Iโ€™ve been training with a former Olympian. My body is feeling good. Mentally Iโ€™m better. My family is good. The timing is right.”

Anderson says the 31-year-old Harvin is currently 185 pounds. Harvin tells her he didn’t file retirement papers after walking away from the game due to severe migraines and other injury issues. Now he feels good enough to give football another try.

โ€œI knew I wasnโ€™t functioning right, not only physically, just all around the board,” he said. “I had to get in contact with myself.โ€

While Harvin says he had a dream about playing with Tom Brady, he’s open to signing with any team that will give him a shot.

โ€œI had a dream a while ago when 12 was with the Patriots, that I would play for Tom Brady,” he said via Anderson. “That was well before the pandemic and he went to the Bucs, my comeback was already in the works. But Iโ€™m ready for any offense that’ll just let me go.”

Harvin, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2009. He spent four years in Minnesota before he was traded to the Seahawks. After an injury-filled 2013 season, the Seahawks once again traded him, this time to the Jets.

Harvin signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the Bills back in March of 2015 after the Jets cut him loose. He retired once after becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2016 but the Bills convinced him to come back briefly in November before he retired for good.

For his career, Harvin rushed for 927 yards on 146 carries (6.3 YPC) to go along with 353 receptions for 4,206 yards receiving and 27 total touchdowns. He also contributed 4,127 kick return yards and five touchdowns on defense.
