Fred Davis Unlikely To Back Be Back In Washington Next Season?

Rick Snider of the Washington Examiner writes that TE Fred Davis is “the odd man out” in Washington this offseason.

Last year, the Redskins franchised Davis, so another tag would run themĀ $6.5 million after the additional 20 percent is factored in.

Snider adds that it may seem like a strange move for Washington to allow a Pro-Bowl caliber tight end to leave during free agency, but points to the fact that they were able to win without him last season.

Davis, 27, comes with some fairly serious drawbacks. He was suspended for 4 games last year after a positive drug test, which means he would miss a full year should test positive again.Ā Davis suffered a tornĀ Achilles in 2012, so there are also concerns relating to how he’ll respond from a pretty serious injury.

It will be interesting to see what kind of market develops for a talent, yet concerning free agent in the coming months.

We have Fred Davis listed as our No. 50 best available player in our Top 50Ā Free Agents list.
