Free Agent DT Kevin Williams Met With Saints, Prefers To Re-Sign With Seahawks

Free agent DT Kevin Williams tells Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press that even though he recently visited with the Saints, his preference would be to re-sign with the Seahawks.

“I want to go back to Seattle, but this is a business,’’ Williams said Thursday. “They’re still evaluating their roster. I guess there’s not that many 12-year veterans that everyone wants. Everyone wants to go younger.

Regarding his visit with the Saints, Williams believes he would be a fit in New Orleans, but he isn’t sure what will transpire in the coming weeks.

“I went down there,’’ Williams said. “We talked. It was a good visit. I would fit in there. But I don’t know what’s going to happen.’’

Williams also confirmed that he has no plans to retire as of now, and is willing to wait for the right opportunity to develop.

“I want to play,’’ Williams said. “But I’m not in a hurry to get anything done, just like last year.’’

Williams, 34, appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks last year and recorded 29 tackles, two sacks, and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has Williams rated as the No. 40 defensive tackle in the league out 81 qualifying players.
