On Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that free agent G Larry Warford is looking to make close to the $7 million salary he was scheduled to earn from the Saints before his release last week.
However, Rapoport says it remains to be seen whether Warford will be able to secure this kind of salary, considering where we are in the NFL offseason.
Recent reports have said the Texans and Bears were among the teams that have expressed interest in Warford since he became available.
Although a report from over the weekend mentioned that the Bears are no longer pursuing Warford.
Warford, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Lions back in 2013. He played out his rookie contract with Detroit before signing a four-year, $34 million deal that included $17 million guaranteed back in 2017.
Warford was owed a $7,650,000 base salary for the 2019 season and had already been paid a $750,000 signing bonus earlier this offseason when the Saints released him.
In 2019, Warford appeared in 15 games for the Saints, making 15 starts for them at right guard. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 8 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
We have him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
