Former Jets and Packers RB Brandon Burks was arrested last Saturday night on a drug possession charge, according to Jeremy Wise of the Dothan Eagle.
Jail records show that Burks was booked into the facility about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on a misdemeanor second-degree marijuana possession charge after a traffic stop.
Burks, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Troy before signing three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Packers. It appeared as though Burks was going to be the Packers’ No. 3 running back before they elected to waive him during their final roster cuts.
Green Bay brought Burks back in November for a brief stint on their practice squad. After he was cut loose, the Jets signed him to their practice squad in December and later promoted him to their active roster.
In 2016, Burks appeared in one game for the Jets and rushed for -4 yards on two carries.
During his four-year college career at Troy, Burks recorded 430 carries for 2,253 yards (5.2 YPC) and 12 rushing touchdowns. He also accumulated 88 receptions for 673 yards receiving (7.6) and three touchdowns.
