Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports that Giants Cย Jon Halapioย broke his ankle and is out for the season.
The Giants have already confirmed the news:
Center Jon Halapio suffered fractures to his lower leg and ankle last night in Dallas and is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the injuries.
— New York Giants (@Giants) September 17, 2018
You can expect the Giants to place him on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.
Halapio, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2014. He spent just a few months in New England before he was waived at the start of the 2014 regular season.
Halapio had brief stints with the Broncos and Cardinals before returning to the Patriots in 2016. The Giants later signed him to their practice squad and he was on and off of their active roster before winning the starting center job this summer.
Halapio will be a restricted free agent in 2019.
In 2018, Halapio appeared in two games for the Giants.
