Giants Have Contacted Former Cardinals LB Deone Bucannon

The New York Giants have reached out to former Cardinals LB Deone Bucannon, per the NY Daily News’ Pat Leonard.

Bucannon played for three seasons in Arizona with current Giants DC James Bettcher. He was the subject of trade rumors earlier in 2018 after seeing his playing time reduced.

Bucannon, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $7,709,200 contract when the Cardinals picked up his fifth-year option last year.

Bucannon stands to make a base salary of $8.71 million for the 2018 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Bucannon played in 13 games for the Cardinals and recorded 38 tackles, no interceptions, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.  He was Pro Football Focus‘ No. 86-ranked linebacker out of 92 qualifying players.
