Art Stapleton reports that the Giants plan to sign veteran CB Ross Cockrell as long as his COVID-19 test comes back fine.
The Giants hosted three players for visits on Saturday, including Cockrell, OT Jackson Dennis, and WR Cody White.
New York could really use some help at cornerback with DeAndre Baker facing serious legal charges and Sam Beal opting out of the 2020 season.
Cockrell, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bills back in 2014 but was waived after one year. The Steelers signed him shortly after and later traded him to the Giants for a 2018 seventh-round pick.
Cockrell wound up signing a two-year, $6.8M deal with the Panthers in March of 2018 and finished out his contract.
In 2019, Cockrell appeared in 14 games and recorded 62 total tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, and eight pass defenses.
