Giants Request Permission To Interview Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the New York Giants have requested permission to interview Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy for their head-coaching job.

Bieniemy also has interest from the Panthers in regards to their head-coaching vacancy.

Reports have said that Baylor HC Matt Rhule is the guy to watch for the Giants’ job, but there’s no guarantee he’ll take the job. The Giants have also requested an interview with Patriots OC Josh McDaniels (NFLTR).

Last year, Bieniemy met with a number of teams for head-coaching jobs including the Jets, Buccaneers, Dolphins and Bengals.

Bieniemy, 50, played 10 seasons in the NFL for the Chargers, Bengals and Eagles before retiring in 1999. His NFL coaching career began in 2006 when he took over as the Vikings’ RBs coach.

The Chiefs hired him for the same position in 2013 and he was later promoted to offensive coordinator last year.

In 2019, the Chiefs’ offense ranked No. 6 in total yards, No. 5 in total points, No. 23 in rushing yards and No. 5 in passing yards.
