According to Dan Duggan, the Giants are signing long snapper Carson Tinker to the roster.
In a corresponding move, New York will waive UDFA TE Rysen John with an injury designation.
Tinker was at Alabama at the same time as Giants HC Joe Judge per Art Stapleton, so there’s some familiarity for someone who could be an emergency option for New York at some point this season.
Tinker, 27, wound up signing on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama back in 2013. He was entering the final year of his five-year, $4.2 million contract and stood to make a base salary of $835,000 when the Jaguars released him last March.
Tinker started every game for four seasons for the Jaguars before tearing his ACL in 2018 after five games.
