Jaguars Sign OT Kelvin Beachum To A One-Year, $4.5M Deal With A Four-Year Option

Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that the Jaguars have signedย LT Kelvin Beachum to a one-year, $4.5 million deal that includes a four-year option worth $40ย million.

Beachum is coming off of an ACL injury, so this is clearly Jacksonville looking to protect themselves while including plenty of incentive forย Beachum to put together a solid 2016 season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing a league source, reports that the Jaguars have reached an agreement with OTย Kelvin Beachum.

Last night, reports said that the Jaguars tried to prevent Beachum from leaving Jacksonville before a deal was done, so they were clearly working to get him under contract.

Beachum reportedly drew interest from the Seahawks, Jets, Ravens and Steelers, as well.

Beachum, 26, played outย the final year of his four-year, $2.146 million rookie contract, which includes a base salary ofย $1.542 million and wasย among the best available offensive tackles in this year’s free agent class.

Unfortunately forย Beachum, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve just over a month into the season. The two parties discussed a contract extension before the start of the regular season, but couldn’t reach an agreement.

In 2015,ย Beachum appeared in all fiveย games for the Steelers.

We had him featuredย in ourย Best Available Free Agents list.
