The Maurice Jones-Drew holdout continued Thursday. Jones-Drew, who has missed the first seven days of training camp, and the Jaguars arenโt talking either.
โThe Jaguars and Jones-Drew arenโt talking.โ Via Vito Sellino of the Florida Times-Union. โThe team wants him to honor the final two years of his current contract.โ It is also worth noting that Sellino believes the holdout โwill likely to last a long time.โ
As this holdout drags on, it certainly wonโt bode well for the Jaguars and Jones-Drew. Last season, Titans running back Chris Johnson held out of most of training camp before receiving a new contract. There was a big drop in Johnsonโs production last year, most notably in rushing yards and touchdowns. It is important for Jones-Drew to get to camp as soon as possible to avoid the possibility of a lackluster season and to meet with head coach Mike Mularkey, whom he hasnโt even met yet.
