Peter King of Sports Illustrated believes that the Jaguars are going to let Maurice Jones-Drew sit and allow Rashad Jennings to handle the majority of the teamโs workload this season.
King mentions that the Jaguars coaching staff, as well as the local media, have praised backup running back Jennings.
Jones-Drew has base salaries of $4.5 million and $4.95 million left for the next two seasons, but itโs not going to be easy for him to secure a long-term agreement at this point in his career. If anyoneโs to blame, itโs probably Jones-Drewโs agent for putting him in this position.
Jennings has shown promise in the past, but injuries have really impacted his productivity in yearโs past. Hopefully that will change this season.
