Jaguars Releasing RB Carlos Hyde

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jaguars are releasing RB Carlos Hyde on Friday.

Hyde, 28, is a former second-round pick of the 49ers back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3.681 million contract before agreeing to a three-year contract worth $15 million with the Browns last year.

The Browns later traded Hyde to the Jaguars midseason for a 2019 fifth-round pick.

Hyde was set to make a base salary of $3,250,000 for the 2019 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Hyde will free up $4.7 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2018, Hyde appeared in 14 games for the Browns and Jaguars and rushed for 571 yards on 172 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 10 receptions for 33 yards receiving and five total touchdowns.
