Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that the Jaguars are releasing S Tashaun Gipson on Friday.
Recent reports mentioned that the Jaguars had Gipson on the trade block, but it appears as though no deal ever surfaced for him.
Jacksonville has now released Gipson, DT Malik Jackson and RB Carlos Hyde on Friday.
Gipson, 28, signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Wyoming back in 2012. He returned to Cleveland a one-year restricted tender with the Browns worth $2.356 million for the 2015 season before signing a five-year deal worth $35.5 contract with the Jaguars in 2016.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Gipson will free up $7,450,000 of available cap space while creating $1.6 million in dead money.
In 2018, Gipson appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and recorded 54 tackles, one interception and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 37 safety out of qualifying 93 players.
