Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jaguars will interview Broncos senior personnel advisorย Gary Kubiak for their offensive coordinator vacancy on Tuesday.
According to Rapoport, the Broncos areย willing to let Kubiak out of his contract for a coaching job.
The Jaguars recently interviewed John DeFilippo for their offensive coordinator vacancy, so he’s also someone to keep an eye on.
In theory, Kubiak seems like a good fit for the Jaguars’ offense that has leaned on a rushing attack to set up play action. Kubiak has also worked with Joe Flacco, who is reportedly a potential target for the Jaguars this offseason, while he was in Baltimore.
Kubiak, 57,ย began his NFL coaching career with the 49ers back in 1994 as their QBs coach and later took over as the Broncos’ offensive coordinator/QBs coach the following year. The Texans hired him as their head coach in 2006 and he spent eight years in Houston.
The Ravens hired him as their offensive coordinator in 2014 but he spent just a year in Baltimore before he was hired as the Broncos head coach.ย Kubiak stepped down as Broncos head coach after the 2016 season due to health issues and has served as a senior personnel adviser for Denver the past few seasons.
For his career, Kubiak’s teams posted a record of 82-75 (52.2 percent) to go along with three playoff appearances including a Super Bowl championship in 2015.
