Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Jaguars are signing veteran QB Mike Glennon to a contract on Friday.
Jacksonville has already confirmed the news.
“Mike is entering his eighth season in the NFL and will bring vital experience into our quarterback room and make us a better football team,” Jaguars Head Coach Doug Marrone said in a statement. “We want to be as strong as possible at every position.
“We expect Mike to come in and work hard, compete every day and help our team win.”
The Jaguars had been looking at veteran backup options in recent weeks and it appears as though they settled on Glennon.
Gardner Minshew is entrenched as the team’s starter for the 2020 season.
Glennon, 30, is a former third-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3.104 million rookie contract before signing a three-year, $45 million contract with the Bears in 2017.
However, the Bears elected to move on from Glennon after just one season and he later signed a two-year $8 million contract with the Cardinals last year. Arizona released him during the offseason and he later signed on with the Raiders for the 2019 season.
For his career, Glennon has completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 5,163 yards, 36 touchdowns and 20 interceptions to go along with 90 yards rushing over the course of six seasons and 29 games.
