Jaguars Signing RB Chris Thompson

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the Jaguars are signing RB Chris Thompson to a one-year contract on Friday.

Thompson has obvious ties here, given that he played for Jaguars OC Jay Gruden while they were together in Washington.

Thompson, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2013. He was unfortunately waived at the start of the 2014 season, but re-signed to their practice squad soon after.

The Redskins brought Thompson back on a second-round restricted tender in 2017 before signing him to a two-year extension at the start of the 2017 regular season.

In 2019, Thompson appeared in 11 games for the Redskins and rushed for 138 yards on 37 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with 42 receptions for 378 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

We had him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
