The New York Jets announced Monday that they’ve claimed K Chase McLaughlin and DL Trevon Coley off of waivers from the Jaguars and Cardinals, respectively.
McLaughlin, 24, originally signed on with the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois in 2019. He was among Buffalo’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason and caught on with the Vikings’ practice squad.
Minnesota wound up cutting him after a week with the team. He later signed on with the Chargers before being released again. He joined the 49ers as a short-term replacement and was later waived. He was claimed by the Colts and signed a one-year extension with the team heading into 2020 before later being released.
The Vikings re-signed McLaughlin to their practice squad soon after. The Jaguars signed him off the practice squad and to their active roster.
In 2020, McLaughlin has appeared in three games for the Jaguars and made 4-5 field goal attempts and 3-4 extra points.
Coley, 26, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic back in 2016. He was unfortunately among the Ravens’ early roster cuts coming out of the preseason.
Coley had brief stints with Washington, the Browns and Colts before signing on with the Cardinals.
In 2020, Coley has appeared in six games for the Cardinals and recorded 14 tackles and a sack.
