The New York Jets announced a series of roster moves on Thursday ahead of their Week 4 game against the Broncos.
Here’s the full list:
- Jets activated WR Jeff Smith from injured reserve
- Jets signed CB Javelin Guidry to their active roster.
- Jets promoted WR Lawrence Cager and CB Lamar Jackson to their active roster.
- Jets released QB Mike White and CB Nate Hairston.
Smith, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Boston College last year. He later signed a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Jets.
However, Smith was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to their practice squad. New York eventually added him to their active roster in December.
In 2019, Smith appeared in one game for the Jets and caught a single pass for 12 yards receiving.
Hairston, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Colts back in 2017. He was entering the third year of his four-year, $2.66 million contract when he was traded to the Jets in 2019.
The Jets re-signed Hairston last month.
In 2019, Hairston appeared in 11 games for the Jets and recorded 24 tackles, one interception and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 93 cornerback out of 115 qualifying players.
