According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, there’s some chatter that the Jets are interested in signing Jaguars free agent WR Donte Moncrief this offseason.
The Jets are clearly in need of some receiver help and it’s possible that Moncrief could end up being a “relatively affordable” option, per Mehta.
Moncrief, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Colts back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.745 million contract before agreeing to a one-year, $9.6 million fully-guaranteed with the Jaguars last year.
Moncrief will be an unrestricted free agent for the second straight year.
In 2017, Moncrief appeared in 12 games for the Colts and caught 26 passes for 391 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 88 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
