According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets have placed S Rontez Miles on the physically unable to perform list and DL Courtney Upshaw on the non-football injury list.
Miles underwent surgery last month to repair a torn meniscus which will require a 3-4 month recovery, so this move was expected.
Miles, 29, wound up signing on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of California (PA) back in 2013. He was on and off of the Jets’ roster over first three years with the team before managing to spend the last two years on the 53-man unit.
The Jets re-signed Miles to a one-year,ย $1.907 million restricted deal this offseason.
In 2017,ย Milesย appeared in 13 games for the Jets and recorded 25 tackles and no interceptions or pass defenses.
Upshaw, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the team before signing a one-year contract with the Falcons in 2016.
Last year, the Falcons brought Upshaw back on another one-year deal. He signed with the Jets last month as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2017, Upshaw appeared in 13 games for the Falcons and recorded nine tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.
