The New York Jets announced Tuesday that they’ve officially place OL Brian Winters and TE Chris Herndon on injured reserve and signed LB B.J. Bello and CB Kyron Brown to their active roster.
On Monday, Jets HC Adam Gase told reporters that Herndon was going to be out “an extended amount of time” with a rib injury, but it appears as though they felt it was best to shut him down for the season.
Herndon, 23, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jets back in 2018. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $3,171,368 contract that included a $711,368 signing bonus.
In 2019, Herndon appeared in one game for the Jets and caught one pass for seven yards and no touchdowns.
Winters, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Jets back in 2013. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $29 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $7 million for the 2020 season.
In 2019, Winters appeared in nine games for the Jets, starting every game at right guard.
