Jets’ Priority Is Re-Signing Robby Anderson, Have Had Discussions With Phillip Dorsett

According to Connor Hughes of The Athletic, the Jets’ priority right now is to re-sign WR Robby Anderson, but they’ve had some contract talks with Patriots free agent WR Phillip Dorsett.

Regarding Dorsett, Josina Anderson reported on Monday that the Jets, Seahawks, Chargers, 49ers and Raiders have all showed preliminary interest in him.

Anderson said during an appearance on ESPN’s “NFL ‪Live” last Tuesday that there’s mutual interest in him returning to New York.

“l think they definitely want me back,” Anderson said, per Rich Cimini. “I truly do want to be back with the Jets. I love Sam (Darnold). I love my teammates, Jamal (Adams) and all those guys. I feel like there’s unfinished business there that I’ve been trying to get done since I got there. I would hope to finish out the mission, all in all, but it’s a business.

Anderson, 26, signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Temple back in 2016. He played out his three-year rookie contract and re-signed to a one-year, $3.095 million deal as a restricted free agent.

Anderson was an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career this offseason.

In 2019, Anderson appeared in 16 games and recorded 52 receptions for 779 yards receiving (15 YPC) and five touchdowns.

Dorsett, 27, is a former first-round pick by the Colts in the 2015 NFL Draft. The Patriots acquired him from the Colts in exchange for QB Jacoby Brissett.

Dorsett played out the final year of a four-year, $8.135 million rookie contract and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career last year when he re-signed with New England on a one-year deal.

In 2019, Dorsett appeared in 14 games for the Patriots and caught 29 passes for 397 yards and five touchdowns. He also carried the ball three times for 21 yards.
