Jets RB Le’Veon Bell Undergoing MRI For Knee Injury

Jets RB Le’Veon Bell is undergoing an MRI for a knee injury that he suffered sometime during Sunday’s 26-18 loss to the Dolphins, per Connor Hughes

Jets HC Adam Gase said he found out about Bell’s status this morning and that Bell didn’t mention anything about an injury during or after Sunday’s game. He added he’s not getting “too alarmed” until he finds out more information.

“It’s hard for me to go anywhere with it mentally because it’s so gray,” Gase said via Hughes

Bell was the subject of some trade rumors leading up to last week’s deadline, so it will be interesting to monitor if this injury potentially impacts his status long-term with the team.

Bell, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Steelers back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $4,120,600 rookie contract, but Pittsburgh used their franchise tag on him.

Last year, the Steelers decided to franchise Bell for the second straight year, but he elected to hold out the entire 2018 season and set himself up for free agency in 2019.

The Jets signed Bell to a four-year, $52.5 million contract worth up to $61 million and includes $35 million guaranteed.

In 2019, Bell has appeared in eight games for the Jets and rushed 125 times for 415 yards (3.3 YPC) and one touchdown while adding 40 receptions for 242 yards and one touchdown.

We’ll have more on Bell as the news is available.
