Jets Re-Signing LB James Burgess To One-Year Deal

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Jets are re-signing LB James Burgess to a one-year contract on Monday.

Brian Costello notes that Burgess is a favorite of Jets DC Gregg Williams.

Burgess, 26, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Louisville back in 2016. He was, unfortunately, among Miami’s final roster cuts but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.

After brief stints with the Chargers, Ravens, Jaguars and Browns, Burgess signed a futures contract with the Dolphins, but was cut loose after the draft. From there, he signed on with the Jets.

In 2019, Burgess appeared in 10 games for the Jets and recorded 80 tackles, a half sack, an interception, a forced fumble, a recovery and five passes defended.
