Jets Second-Round WR Devin Smith Suffered A “Slightly” Punctured Lung

Dom Cosentino of NJ.com, citing two people familiar with the situation, reports that Jets second-round WR Devin Smith suffered a “slightly” punctured lung along with broken ribs.

Smith was injured after making a catch during Friday’s training camp practice.

As of now, the expectation is that Smith will likely sidelined 4-6 weeks, which leaves his status for Week 1 in question.

The Jets have several receivers in camp competing for jobs, but it will at least be interesting to see how Smith recovers and what his status is for the start of the season.

During his four years at Ohio State, Smith caught 121 passes for 2,503 yards receiving and 30 touchdowns. He also contributed as a kick and punt returner.
