Jets Sign OL Lawrence Okoye To Practice Squad

The New York Jets officially signed OL Lawrence Okoye to their practice squad on Friday, according to the NFL transactions release.

  • The Jets also waived DB Jeremy Harris from their practice squad and signed DL T.J. Barnes to the unit.

The Jets’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DL T.J. Barnes
  2. OLB Lawrence Okoye
  3. G Jarvis Harrison
  4. WR Shane Wynn
  5. DE/OLB Quanterus Smith
  6. TE Wes Saxton
  7. NT Deon Simon
  8. DE Mike Catapano
  9. LB Deion Barnes
  10. LB Taiwan Jones

Okoye, 24, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent back in 2013. He was considered to be a developmental project, seeing as he was a former rugby and track star.

Interestingly enough, the Jets have Okoye listed as an offensive lineman.

Okoye spent a little over two years in San Francisco before he was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later added to the Cardinals practice squad. Arizona parted ways with Okoye a month ago, but he’s since tried out for the Seahawks, Chiefs, Chargers, and Jets.

Okoye has yet to appear in an NFL game.
