Adam Schefter reports that the Jets are signing former Packers RB Ty Montgomery to a one-year deal on Thursday.
According to Schefter, Montgomery expected to be the back to Le’Veon Bell.
Montgomery was scheduled to visit with the Dolphins next, but it looks like the Jets closed the deal.
Montgomery, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Packers back in 2015. Green Bay traded him to the Ravens in exchange for a 2020 seventh-round pick back in October of last year.
Montgomery finished the final year of his four-year, $2.949 million contract and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2018, Montgomery appeared in seven games for the Packers and six with the Ravens, recording 41 rushing attempts for 188 yards (4.6 YPC) and scored one touchdown to go along with 40 receptions for 235 yards receiving (9.4 YPC) and no touchdowns.
We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
