Jets Unlikely To Pick Up OT Ben Ijalanaโ€™s Option, Could Re-Sign Him During Free Agency

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are unlikely to pick up OT Ben Ijalanaโ€˜s $500,000 option that would pay him a $4.5 million base salary for the 2018 season.

Monday marks the deadline for the Jets to decide on Ijalanaโ€™s option.

However, Rapoport says that New York could still bring Ijalana back during free agency.

Ijalana, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Colts back in 2011. He lasted just over a year in Indianapolis before he was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

Ijalana signed a two-year, $11 million contract with the Jets last year and would make a base salary of $4.5 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Ijalana was active for 11 games and played a total of 56 snaps for the Jets, according to Pro Football Focus.
