Jets Willing To Trade WR Robby Anderson & DL Leonard Williams

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets are looking to trade WR Robby Anderson ahead of the October 29 deadline and add some extra draft picks to work with next year.

Mehta also reports that the Jets could trade DL Leonard Williams “for the right price.”

Earlier in the day, Albert Breer reported that the receiver market is “pretty hot” right now with Anderson being among the available options.

Breer also mentioned that the Jets are listening to offers for Williams. According to Breer, the Chiefs and Eagles are seen as “sensible landing spots” for Williams if the price is right, which could be around a third-round pick.

Anderson, 26, signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Temple back in 2016. He played out his three-year rookie contract and re-signed to a one-year, $3.095 million deal as a restricted free agent.

The Jets were reportedly open to trading Anderson back in April, so it appears they are still interested in dealing him.

In 2019, Anderson has appeared in six games and recorded 17 receptions for 266 yards receiving (15.6 YPC) and one touchdown.

Williams, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2015. He was in the final year of a four-year, $18.6 million rookie contract and is set to earn a base salary of $2,975,574 in 2018 when the Jets picked up his fifth-year option last April.

Williams will make a base salary of $14.2 million for the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Williams will free up $14.2 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2019, Williams has appeared in all four games for the Jets and has 11 total tackles and no sacks.

We’ll have more regarding the Jets as the news is available.
