Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, citing a league source, reports that barring any setbacks during pregame workouts tomorrow, a number of injured Packers including WR Jordy Nelson, WR Davante Adams, WR Geronimoย Allisonย and S Morgan Burnett are all expected to be available.
The Packers still have all four players listed as questionable for the NFC Championship game and Green Bay even bolster their receiver depth today by calling up Max McCaffrey from their practice squad.
However, it’s clear that none of these players will be at full strength tomorrow, so it will be up to HC Mike McCarthy to figure out the best way to use. Silverstein says that any of them could drop out at any time during the game, depending on how they hold up.
Nelson is expected to wear a flak jacket designed to absorb the force of hits he takes to his torso, but it’s clear that he’ll have to manage pain throughout the game, assuming of course that he’s active for the game.
As for Burnett, Silverstein mentions that he’s likely ahead of the other players and a “pretty good bet” to play tomorrow.
Depending on how things go with the Packers’ receivers, rookie Trevor Davis and Jeff Janis could both see larger roles in the team’s offense along with RB/WR Ty Montgomery.
We’ll have more regarding the Packers’ injured players as the news is available.
