Update:
The NFLPA has announced that they are filing anย expeditedย grievance to remove Adrian Peterson from commissioner’s exempt list.
The NFLPA has filed an expedited, non-injury grievance to remove Adrian Peterson from the Commissionerโs Exempt list based on explicit language in a signed agreement dated September 18, 2014. We asked the NFL to honor the terms of that agreement last week and as of now, they have failed to respond or comply. It is our obligation to protect all playersโ rights, and we will pursue any and all breaches of any contract between a player and his team or the NFL.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that the NFL is not expected to reinstate Vikings RBย Adrian Petersonย before the NFL Players Association’s deadline ofย 5:00 p.m. ET Monday.
Surely this doesn’t come as much of a surprise seeing as reports would have leaked out earlier in the day of Peterson beingย reinstated from theย Commissioner-Exempt list.
Florio mentions that the next step for Peterson and his legal team would be for them to file aย non-injury grievance in the hope of getting himย reinstatement.
According to Florio, if they filed aย grievance soon, there is a chance that aย hearing could be held andย resolved in time to allow Peterson to suit up for Week 11’s game against the Bears.
Peterson is still likely to face some form of punishment from the leagueย under their new personal conduct policy, but t appears as though he has a case to made that the league agreed toย reinstate him after his legal case had concluded.
Instead, the NFL has been dragging their feet regarding this situation and the Vikings aren’t saying much about their plans to get him back in their locker room.
Minnesota released a statement on Monday regarding Peterson and his reinstatement:
In regards to Adrian Peterson’s status with the Minnesota Vikings, at this time his potential reinstatement is under NFL guidelines. As an organization, we respect and understand the leagueโs process. In the interim, our focus is on the team and preparing for this weekend’s game against the Bears.
Head coachย Mike Zimmer did tellย reporters that theyย would welcome Peterson back, but he too reiterated this decision remains in the hands of the NFL.
โWhen those decisions are made [by the NFL], we can make decisions,โ Zimmerย said, via Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. โUntil then, really our hands are tied. Thereโs nothing we can do about it other than what Iโve said all along. We love the kid. Heโs done everything Iโve asked him to do. And we support him. We want him to get through this for him, for him. Then weโll worry about all the other things we have to deal with at the time.โ
We’ll have more updates regarding Peterson and his reinstatement as the news is available.
