The Detroit Lions announced Friday that they’ve activated DE Everson Griffen from the exempt list and promoted CB Tramaine Brock and G Evan Brown to their active roster.
Griffen, 32, is a former fourth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2010. He signed a six-year, $75 million contract that includes $34 million guaranteed in 2017, but the Vikings declined to pick up his option back in February, which allowed him to become a free agent.
The Cowboys signed Griffen to a one-year, $6 million contract this offseason. However, they later traded him to the Lions before the deadline.
In 2020, Griffen has appeared in seven games for the Cowboys and five games for the Lions, recording 30 total tackles, five sacks and four pass defenses.
Brock, 32, wound up signing on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Belhaven College back in 2010. He was in the final year of his five-year, $17.323 million contract and set to make a base salary of $3.1 million for the 2017 season when the 49ers cut him loose.
The Seahawks signed Brock to a one-year deal in 2017 before trading him to the Vikings for a seventh-round pick. Brock signed with the Broncos for the 2018 season and signed with the Cardinals on a one-year deal but the team later opted to waive him.
Brock was claimed by the Titans before once again being waived. He signed on with the Jaguars and continued to fight for a backup spot with Jacksonville’s defense before being placed on injured reserve back in September.
The Lions signed him to their practice squad a few weeks aog.
In 2019, Brock appeared in 14 games for the Cardinals and Titans and recorded 50 tackles, no interceptions, and five passes defended.
