Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Lions have claimed DE Romeo Okwara off of waivers from the Giants on Wednesday and placed DE Anthony Zettel on waivers.
Okwara, 23, signed on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame back in 2016. He is in the final year of a three-year, $1.62 million contract and is set to earn a base salary of $630,000 this season.
The Giants placed him on injured reserve back in October of last year with an MCL injury and later designated him to return. Unfortunately, New York elected to waive Okwara on Tuesday.
In 2017, Okwara appeared in six games and recorded three total tackles and no sacks.
