Lions DE Ziggy Ansah Getting Second Opinion On High-Ankle Sprain

Update:

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that Lions DE Ziggy Ansah is getting a second opinion on his high-ankle sprain.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Lions DEย Ziggy Ansah suffered a high-ankle sprain during Sunday’s loss to the Titans and is expected to miss an “undetermined amount time.

Ansah was forced from Sunday’s game with a left ankle injury and had a tough time putting weight on it, so it was clear that this could be a severe ankle sprain for Ansah.

Ansah, 26, was taken with the No. 5 overall pick back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $18.595 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $2.941 million for the 2016 season when the Lions picked up his fifth-year option.

Ansah’s option tender will run the Lions $12.7ย million in 2017, but this figure isย guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

This season,ย Ansah has recorded two tackles and no sacks for the Lions over the course of two games.
