Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the Lions are expected to start QB David Blough in Thursday’s Week 13 game against the with Jeff Driskel still recovering from a hamstring injury and Matthew Stafford dealing with his back issue.
This will be Blough’s first NFL start and puts the Lions in an unfavorable position given he is their third-string quarterback.
Blough, 24, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in May. Cleveland traded him to the Lions coming out of the preseason in exchange for a conditional 2022 seven-round draft pick.
During his college career, Blough recorded 871 completions on 1,429 pass attempts (61.0 percent) for 9,734 yards, 69 touchdowns, and 43 interceptions.
