The ย Detroit Lions announced Tuesday that they’ve hired former Texans OCย George Godsey as defensive assistant-special projects.
He interviewed for the Jetsย offensive coordinator vacancy before they went withย Saints WRs coach John Morton.
Houston and Godsey mutually agreed to part waysย last month andย Texans HC Bill O’Brienย has since agreed to take over as the team’s offensive coordinator.
Godsey, 38, began his NFL coaching career with the Patriots back in 2011 as an offensive assistant. He worked his way up to tight ends coach before he was hired by the Texans as their quarterbacks coach in 2014. A year later, Houston elevated him to offensive coordinator.
In 2016, the Texans ranked No. 28 in total points, No. 29 in total yards, No. 8 in rushing yards and No. 29 in passing yards
