According to Michael Rothstein, the Lions have placed OL Zac Kerin on the injured reserve and signed LB Thurston Armbrister from their practice squad in a corresponding roster move.
Kerin, 25, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo back in May of 2014. He spent his first year on the Vikings’ practice squad before returning to the team on a future/reserve contract after the season.
Since then, Kerin has been on the team’s 53-man roster and played out the 2016 season on an exclusive rights contract. The Vikings re-signed him to an exclusive rights deal back in April, but waived him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-an limit.
In 2016, Kerin was active for nine games for the Vikings.ย Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 118 snaps last year.
Armbrister, 24, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in May of 2015. He was able to crack Jacksonville’s active roster and played out a full year with the team before being waived.
The Lions claimed him off waivers in September of last year and was also able to make the team’s active roster.
Detroit waived him back in September and signed him to their practice squad once he cleared waivers.
In 2016, Armbrister appeared in 14 games for the Lions and recorded 15 total tackles.
