Lions Promote WR Tom Kennedy, Sign DT Frank Herron To P-Squad

The Detroit Lions announced Friday that they’ve promoted WR Tom Kennedy to their active roster and signed DT Frank Herron to their practice squad.

Here’s the Lions updated practice squad:

  1. DT John Atkins
  2. LB Steve Longa
  3. TE Isaac Nauta
  4. T Matt Nelson
  5. LB Anthony Pittman
  6. LB Jason Cabinda
  7. DE Eric Lee
  8. WR Chris Lacy
  9. DT Ray Smith
  10. DT Frank Herron

Lions WR Danny Amendola has been dealing with an injury, but HC Matt Patricia said he’ll practice on Friday, so Kennedy’s promotion is likely just insurance.

Kennedy, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Bryant back in April. He later signed a three-year, $1.755 million contract with the Lions, but was waived coming out of the preseason.

The Lions re-signed Kennedy to their practice squad soon after.

During his college career at Bryant, Kennedy caught 90 passes for 1,298 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. He also rushed for 94 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns over the course of 18 games.
