The Detroit Lions have announced that they have re-signed bothย QB Shaun Hill and LT Jeff Backus to two-year contracts, per Jason La Canfora.
Shaun Hill has been a very underrated backup quarterback and I’m sure Lions are glad to have him back. He recently visited with the St Louis Rams but chose to return to Detroit and backup Matthew Stafford. Previous reports suggested that he wanted to stay with the team all along so it’s really not surprising to see him re-sign with the team.
Jeff Backus, 34, is coming off of a torn bicep but he’s really their best option at the tackle position now that Eric Winston chose to sign with the Chiefs. I’d expect them to consider an offensive tackle in the early round of this years draft but they’re a team that usually looks for the best player available.
