According to Mike Garafolo, the Detroit Lions have agreed to a deal with former Steelers TE Jesse James.
- Ian Rapoport reports that the Lions are signing James to a four-year, $25 million contract with $11 million fully guaranteed.
James, 24, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth-round in 2015 out of Penn State. He signed a four-year deal that was set to expire on Wednesday. This is his first time hitting unrestricted free agency.
In 2018, James played in all 16 games for the Steelers, recording 30 catches for 423 yards and two touchdowns. He was Pro Football Focus’ No. 30-ranked tight end out of 70 qualifying players.
