Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press reports that the Lions and veteran RB Matt Asiata have agreed to a one-year contract on Friday.
The Lions previously brought Asiata in a for a visit, so he was clearly on their radar as a potential addition.
Asiata, 29, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Utah back in 2011. He has been playing under one-year contracts the past three seasons and is currently testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2016, Asiata appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and rushed for 402 yards on 121 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 33 receptions for 263 yards receiving and six total touchdowns.
