According to Aaron Wilson, the Lions worked out four free agents on Wednesday including veterans DT Justin Ellis and OT Ulrick John.
The full list of tryouts includes:
- DT Justin Ellis
- OT Ulrick John
- OT Brian Mihalik
- OL Austin Pasztor
Ellis, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2014. He played out the final year of his rookie contract and was set to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career before agreeing to a three-year extension worth over $15 million last year.
The Raiders placed Ellis on injured reserve coming out of the preseason with a knee injury and cut him with an injury settlement.
The Chiefs brought Ellis in for a workout earlier this week but he left Kansas City without a contract.
In 2018, Ellis appeared in six games and recorded seven tackles and no sacks.
John, 27, is a former seventh-round pick of the Colts back in 2014. He lasted over a year in Indianapolis before signing on to the Dolphins’ active roster.
John had brief stints with the Cardinals and Packers before the Patriots signed him for the 2018 season. The Saints signed John to a contract back in May before placing him on injured reserve and eventually cutting him loose with a settlement in August.
He worked out for the Texans in September but was not signed following their meeting.
In 2017, John was active for five games.
