Matt Flynn Leaning Towards Miami?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins have “emerged as the favorites” in the QB Matt Flynn sweepstakes.

I think the Dolphins are the team to beat,” said Schefter.

There have been some reports that suggested that the Seahawks may try to prevent Flynn from visiting with the Dolphins but Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com refutes the idea by reporting that, Flynn will not sign a contract with Seattle before meeting with the Dolphins.

Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports reports that Flynn would like to sign with Miami but mentions that the team is “low-balling the offer” with the hope that he’d be willing to give them a discount to play for Joe Philbin. Cole adds that a deal in the range of $7-8 million per season could be what it takes to get him to sign.

As you can see, there have been some conflicting reports about the Flynn’s preference as well as the Dolphins strategy towards signing him. It seems like there’s a willingness to get some done with the Dolphins on the part of Flynn, so you’d have to think that they’re the favorites at this point despite Cole’s report.

We have Flynn listed as the #13 best available free agent in our updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
